Can I get a DS lite onto wifi if my home router has incompatible security?

Ok i’ve been trying to get my DS lite connected to wifi so I can hook up with a wii for a long time, and I was wondering if there was something I could buy to get if to connect more easily. My home router security is not compatible with the DS. Will a DS USB connector fix the problem?

    You can do three things.

    1. Change you routers security to something the ds supports like “WEP” security. If you live in a dense neighbor hood than I would not recommend doing this as if someone really wanted to they could hack your router but if you live anywhere thats not densely packed with neighbors or you trust your neighbors than this would be a free easy way to hook up your ds. This would be my most recommended thing to do. Honestly the chances of getting your router hacked even in a dense neighbor hood is very small but it still could happen but I wouldn’t worry about it.

    2. You can buy a Nintendo wifi USB connector. You can buy them online for cheap but I have owned one and to put it simply it was a terrible. You can’t leave it plugged in for long or it will overheat. It doesn’t always connect. The connection is slow. Setting it up is a hassle. You get the picture. Nintendo discontinued the USB connector for these reasons. I wouldn’t even want to touch one of those things again. Its up to you though.

    3. You can buy a DSi. A DSi supports way more security settings than the lite. I can garanty a DSi will work with your router without changing security. However the DSi’s security features are only available in newer titles and DSi features. Like the browser, the store, etc. So older ds games on the DSI won’t work on with the security settings the DSi offers. If you want to play older games you’ll have to change your router’s security to make it capable with the lite.

    Overall your best bet is to just change your routers security settings to WEP. Its free and easy and once your done your lite will be able to connect 100%. Hope this helped.
