InGrid SK803IG Home Monitoring Kit for 2500 Square Foot Homes

It will charge you monthly fees (20 for self-monitoring and 30 for professional) For self-monitoring, it never mentioned anywhere that you will be charged for 20/mo. So if you don’t want to pay the monthly fee, don’t buy this item.

After purchasing this, they then try to get you to sign their service agreement.
I want everyone to be aware of a couple things:
1.) In spite of the fact you pay a premium for the equipment, it completely diactivates should you ever cancel the service, and you are left with a bunch of useless equipment.
2.) There is a 2 year minimum contract
3.) Also, even though there is no finincial risk to InGrid should you cancel early, they slap you with a $175 early termination fee if you should cancel before 2 years.
You might want to be aware of these things before you buy.
I should add that I tried to cancel my service immediatly after becoming aware of these things after reading their SLA, and the lady on the phone was about as insistent I stat as an AOL
rep, and lo and behold they still shipped out the order today and charged my credit card (I canceled 2 hours after placing the order, after hours, and here it is 3pm the next day and they
shipped it anyways, so I’m sure the request to cancel was completely ignored)

Just when I thought a company has woken up and learned the true needs of customers–flexibility. I thought it was a great device until I learned that it cannot be used (expensive doorstop) without the monitoring service. The Product Managers at Ingrid missed the mark on this one. I’m sending my unit back to Crutchfield tomorrow.
Note to Ingrid PMs: Let customer do self-monitoring for a fraction of the $30 monthly monitoring fee. You might just differentiate yourself from your competitors that way.

This alarm system is perfect for our needs. If you don’t have a landline phone, you are not eligible for certain professionally installed alarm systems. So, in addition to the monitoring fee, you’d also have to pay to add a landline. That is what initially attracted us to the InGrid system… but there is so much more! So, what makes InGrid so great?
Installation
-All door and window sensors “stick on” – no wires, no screws, anyone can install!
-Console requires a nearby plug, but otherwise easy to install anywhere
-Cordless handset just requires a wall plug
What is Included?
-Cordless handset can be placed anywhere to control system (ours is in master bedroom) – easily arm the system right before bed, without having to go back to the console
-Window and door sensors (extra sensors available on Amazon)
Easy online monitoring of your home
-View the status of your system
-Arm or disarm your system remotely (i.e. for the cleaning lady, a neighbor, etc)
-Edit contact settings for alarm notifications
-Arm/disarm individual sensors (so you can leave an upstairs window open but still arm the system, etc.)
-View the history – see if the kids armed properly before leaving, fix it online if they did not
-Optional video monitoring available with camera and nominal extra monthly fee
Other Features
-Notification settings for events can include: burglar alarm, wireless internet out, etc. You control online.
-Set up to 4 notification contacts for events – text messaging or e-mail addresses
-InGrid will call a person, plus other added courtesy contacts (such as a neighbor, if desired), to verify alarm before calling authorities
-”Panic mode” – if you are asked to disarm the system against your will, or otherwise need police help, you can enter a certain distress code that you set up as the “unlock” code for the system. InGrid will not call you to confirm, or send alerts, they will send the police right away.
-Arm and disarm via “keychain remote” – one is included, others available on Amazon
-Optional fire alarm can be purchased, which will notify security company of a fire. (With my cooking, I am not using this feature!)
Because your settings can be easily changed online, you can add and remove the primary and secondary (courtesy) contacts and change your notification options. When we recently went on a three week vacation to Europe, we added my parent’s contact information to notify them of a problem with our system, as we would be unavailable by phone to contact. When we got home, it took just a minute to go in and change the settings back to our e-mail and cell phones (for text messaging).
The only slight disappointment to us was that a security sign and/or stickers were not included in the box. However, we were able to order on InGrid’s website very easily. We think this is an important deterrent to let potential intruders know that you have a security system installed.
Overall, this is a great system and is very easy to use. My husband and I each have a keychain. We can arm and disarm the system remotely from the internet, so if we want to allow someone access to our home, we can do so without them needing the alarm code or a keychain remote. This is a very flexible system, easy to use, great online self-monitoring and controls, and gives us a great piece of mind to know it is installed.
The additional monitoring service is installed on our system. Luckily we have not needed it so far, but it is comforting to know we are linked into the local emergency response departments should we need assistance. I highly recommend this system to anyone who would like to install their own security system that is effective and easy to use. Do not be intimidated by the fact you install yourself – no wires, no mess! Great product. Thanks InGrid!

I had Brinks and ADT provide estimates. Both estimates consisted of scribbling and random numbers that made no sense. My wife wanted a security system and I knew that I wouldn’t feel good about signing a 3-year contract with these guys.
I searched around for a better solution and found Ingrid. I ordered the 2,500 sq. ft. kit, and had it hooked up in about three hours.
This is honestly one of the coolest and most thought-through pieces of technology I have purchased in a while. Not only is it extremely configurable (ability to send notifications via email or SMS using a variety of different rules), expanding it is a piece of cake. I am planning on purchasing the siren detector and water leak detector. By the way, Brinks and ADT charge more for these devices AND charge an additional monthly monitoring fee.
The fact that I can control everything from the web is a huge advantage to me. Also, this qualifies for a discount from my home insurance company (State Farm) since it is a monitored service.
If you are considering a monitored home security system and don’t want to deal with sleazy sales reps and ridiculous contracts, look no further than Ingrid. Lower monitoring fees and much better functionality.
